Half day beginner Zion Canyoneering is a perfect activity to explore the slot canyons unique to the Zion National Park area. This is the best option for families with young ones, those with a small block in their travel schedule and those looking for an introduction to canyoneering. ZMS’s Half day beginner canyoneering experience utilizes guides with the highest industry standards therefore ensuring a safe and fun Zion adventure day.

On a half day beginner Zion canyoneering trip you will descend a technical slot canyon through hiking, rappelling, and climbing. We will provide instruction on rappelling, down climbing, and belay techniques. There are rappels ranging from 20-80 feet in length and light hiking for under an hour. No experience is necessary! This trip is suitable for  All Ages & All Ability Levels and is run year round so start times vary depending on the season. 

What to Expect:

  • 3- 4  hour outing
  • Descend a technical slot canyon through hiking, rappelling, and climbing.
  • Instruction on rappelling, down climbing, and belay techniques
  • Rappels 20-80 feet in length
  • Light hiking under an hour
  • All trips are private
  • Note: As directed by the Superintendent, paid guiding for canyoneering and climbing trips is not permitted within Zion National Park. All trips and courses are done outside of the park in beautiful locations. Details will be given when you call to book your course or trip.

Half Day Itinerary: 3- 4 hrs

MEET UP LOCATION:

Corner of HWY 9 & Kolob Terrace Road, Virgin UT

ITINERARY:

Meet your guide at the specified time and location as stated in the confirmation email. If you do not have any personal equipment, your guide will outfit you with the necessary technical equipment.

A short 1/2 mile hike will get you to the first rappel. Your guide will instruct on the safe use of the equipment and necessary techniques needed to safely and efficiently descend a beautiful slot canyon. Hike back to the car.

Cancellation Policy:

Unless arrangements are made, payments are due in full at the time you book your trip. Zion Mountain School does everything in their power to ensure trips run as planned.

If for any reason Zion Mountain School cannot run a trip as scheduled, we will offer a full refund or reschedule your planned event.
If you need to cancel your trip more than 30 days out, Zion Mountain School offers a full refund minus a 10% administrative fee.

Once within the 30 day window, but more than 48 hours before the trip, Zion Mountain School will refund 75% of the trip cost. The remaining 25% can be used as credit for future trips with ZMS. This credit is valid for two years.

Non-emergency cancellations less than 48 hours of your trip, are non-refundable.
